Match Report: Manchester United 2-2 Chelsea

Chelsea managed to overturn a two nil scoreline to force a replay at Old Trafford. Stunning strikes from Eden Hazard and Ramires completed the comeback. Manchester United certainly were fast off the blocks as they netted twice within eleven minutes. They did have chances to see off the blues but they didnt take it.

After a controversial exit out of the Champions League United were raring to go and they certainly made the dream start. A sensational ball by carrick was expertly guided in by the head of Javier Hernandez who continued his brilliant goal-scoring record against us. 1-0 United. Their fans only had to wait another eight minutes to jump up with jubilation. Moses was guilty as he fouled Nani the man who’s been at the centre of much controversy. Wayne Rooney managed to hit the ball through several Chelsea players and into the net. It really was poor defending from Chelsea and we really should have cleared our lines however United doubled their advantage as hope of us retaining our FA cup was fading. We did have a better phase following the goal as we were exchanging neat passes and slowly getting into the game. Our first real chance of the game fell to Lampard at the edge of the D. Mata slid a beautifully weighted ball into the path of Super Frankie who attempted to curl the ball into the net however the ball fell into the palms of De Gea. Manchester United once again threatened our shaky defence as Hernandez came agonizingly close to make it three nil. We did have another chance before half time but Moses tame shot was easily blocked. 2-0 United at Half Time.

We came out the second half like a completely different team. Our passing was crisp, our decision making was better and we were denying united the chance to play their free-flowing football. We were completely revitalised and it was if hope was injected into our play. On the 61st minute our hard work paid off. Hazard collected the ball from Mata took one touch and curled the ball into the top corner. It was a sensational goal and it was one which brought us back in the game. Sir fergie realised that the momentum was with the blues and he hoped the introduction of RVP would balance the game in their favour. unfortunately for Fergie the blues carried on attacking and it wasnt to long before we equalised. A clever counter attacking move was brilliantly finished off by ramires. The ball was exchanged four times before Ramires’ excellent skill managed to open his body for the shot. His pin-point accuracy was enough to guide the ball past De Gea. 2-2. In the 89th minute im sure many Chelsea fans believed that we had witnessed one of the greatest comebacks an outstanding save by De Gea proved vital. Mata’s touch was exquisite and he managed to shoot the ball at the goal The ball looked destined to hit the back of the net but the slightest of touches from De Gea spoiled our comeback.

Considering our recent form i certainly would have taken 2-2 before the match but the other hand it will be hard to squeeze another fixture in our jam-packed schedule. I’m sure the game at the Bridge will be a very spicy affair! However lets turn our attention to Thursday. Let me know your thoughts. Hope you all enjoyed the game.KTBFFH
