Match Report: Reading

Stunning result. Chelsea were leading 2-0 with only four minutes of regular time remaining, but two goals in the closing stages have secured the unlikeliest of draws. Full time, it’s Reading 2 Chelsea 2. A draw out of nothing for the Royals.

Reading produced another Houdini escape act to stun Chelsea and snatch a point after coming from two goals behind with three minutes of normal time remaining. Goals from Juan Mata right on half time and Frank Lampard’s ninth of the season looked to have sealed victory for Rafa Benitez’s men. But the never say did attitude of Reading that took them past Newcastle and West Brom in their previous two matches surfaced again as super sub Adam Le Fondre pounced with his ninth and tenth goals of the season to stun the visitors. Reading staged a late comeback to take a point at home in their Premier League match against Chelsea this evening. The Royals defended well throughout the first half, but a Juan Mata goal on the stroke of half time put the visitors ahead. Frank Lampard doubled the advantage for Chelsea, seemingly putting the game beyond the home side. However, Adam Le Fondre came off the bench to score two late goals to level the scores and lift Reading out of the relegation zone. An extremely disappointing result given how well we played and the lead we held, but it slipped away from us. We allowed Reading back into the match and we were anonymous in behind since the first Reading goal.

  1. why is rafa benitez always substituting Ba late into d games it is either at 80′,85′ and just today on the 90′ ….. and leaves clueless Torres to wonder aimlessly on the pitch.. what is Bertrand doing playing all 90’….. Lampard did score a goal but hardly contribute to winning ball from opponents… he is 34yrs plus … shld be coming in second half just as Giggs and Scholes at Man U , if we ever want to retain him …to add his experience he is more concerned about beating the club record of highest goal scorer … but leaves out Ramires in the midfield and strays into the supporting strikers position, thereby causing a lot of hassles for Ramires to handle in the midfield. John Terry sits all day on the bench ….. this is how Benitez destroys liverpool fc with his rotating the squad policies … i expect nothing spectacular from him this season .. cos its too late … since he got nothing at stake as an interim manager.. he expects to be sacked at any moment and cash in on the the benefit…. he is just a pain in the ass … and scribble next to nothing all match long onto a paper with nothing to show for such drama.

    • Do you know why Ramires and Lampard are playing all the time? Have you even noticed how thin we are in those positions?

  2. do react pls dear chelsea fans to the above comment

  3. Rafa should be sacked, really do we CFC Fans believe RDM would be losing and droping these points like Rafa? I think RDM wouldn’t draw Brentford and Reading. The players lack concentration nd were disorganised for the last 5mins and paid dearly.

our squd is really thin… we lack options….. we are playing a match every three days, causing players fatigue and it will result in causing some players to burn out.
nad this is the main reason why chelsea players are conceding late as they are tired and not able to concentrate for full 90 minutes. and obviously we cant keep a clean sheet without peter cech…

  5. I pity demba ba he was a contender for golden boot this season chasing van persie n suarez now he is being forced to play 2nd fiddle to the misfiring ft9…….it’s such a shame for a top striker of his calibre to be wasted in chelsea coz benitez is jst slowing down his scoring momentum n eventually knock down his confidence by consistently benching him…..i’m afraid top players might start avoiding chelsea coz of favoritism n poor management by the board, the way pep choose stabilty over money by going to bayern, tht shld be a wake up call to our management coz the way things r being done @ the bridge, we will be lucky to finish among the top four coz AVB is jst four points behind us……nway i’m hoping the ‘skinny man’ is sacked before it’s too late to rescue our falling season. KTBFFH!

  6. Benitez!! you wasted inter milan, you have wasted chelsea,13 points behind and you are not done yet,you want to waste Ba,you are the manager who av perfomed poorly…Abromovich send this failure 2where he came from
