Moises Caicedo needs to stop being berated in the media

Signed from Brighton for a staggering 115 million pounds, Moisés Caicedo has often been scrutinised rather unfairly.

With reports of the Blues’ hierarchy losing their patience with head coach Mauricio Pochettino, it is a fellow Spanish-speaking young lad who’s fighting tooth and nail for his beloved manager.

Singling out his Chelsea ‘fan-hood’ from his younger days while in Ecuador and mentioning the desire to work under the former Espanyol manager, it is evident that Caicedo is one of the very few presently giving his ALL for the under pressure Argentine.

Playing as the deepest of Poch’s now trusted midfield three of himself, Enzo and Gallagher, it is Moisés that constantly turns up even in the face of adversity.

Poch’s insistence of having Caicedo’s two other midfield partners far away from build-up and sometimes in settled play has often seen the 22-year old Ecuadorian isolated in the middle of the park as he takes sole responsibility of Chelsea’s build-up and breaking-off of opponents attacks.

In a familiar theme this season, Caicedo was once again brilliant as he brilliantly marshaled Chelsea’s midfield tonight against Leeds United at the Bridge.

Making 10 recoveries and wining 6 out of 9 contested ground duels meant Moisés kept Chelsea in the game with some important blocks and tackles just at the edge of the Chelsea box.

As imperious as Caicedo was off the ball, his majestic ball-playing side was on show too as he registered one assist from 6 passes into the final third and 4/5 accurate long balls.

Considering how much he worked hard against Liverpool and City prior as well, it might be wise to find a rest for Caicedo before he suffers a burnout or gets a suspension from his accumulated yellow cards.

Either way, a rest might just be around the corner for the ever hardworking 22-year old.

Next up for the Blues is a trip to Brentford community stadium to face Thomas Frank’s men.
