Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is battling to be fit for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at the end of the month.
Mount was forced off during the first half of the Club World Cup final on Saturday as the Blues were crowned champions after beating Palmeiras in extra time.
The England international returned to the pitch to celebrate with his team-mates, but had a heavily strapped right ankle.
It was feared the player could be out with ligament damage, however The Athletic have reported that it may be just two weeks on the sidelines for the 23-year-old.
It means he is certain to miss the Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with Lille, as well as the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace this weekend.
However, it remains to be seen whether Mount can return in time to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday February 27, says the Daily Mail.
