This week on Chelsea TV, first team manager, Jose Mourinho commented on our recent signings from Anzhi Makachkala, Brazilian winger Willian and Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o. The latter has great relationships with the Special one and as stated by himself is the main reason why he chose to join the Blues over some interested teams in Italy including his former club Inter Milan.
Mean while, Willian has been a steal as some would call it right under the noses of Tottenham Hotspurs since the player had medical over there and was near to seal the move. Chelsea arrived at the 11th hour of the negotiations to bid 32m pounds, two more than Spurs’ bid and Willian rightfully made his decision to join the Blues over our London rivals. Now, let’s here Jose’s comments about the signings….
‘Samuel is a very experienced striker as everybody knows, and a winner,’ Mourinho told Chelsea TV.
‘He’s a guy who inspite of winning everything, he never lost his desire to win. He comes to England with the same objective with which I went to Spain – he wants to be the first one to win the Spanish, the Italian and the English league as a player, and he always wanted to play in the Premier League so he comes with big motivation.
‘He is different from Torres; Torres is different from Ba and Ba is different from Eto’o, so we have in these three strikers experience and different qualities.’
Turning his attention to Willian, Mourinho described the 25-year-old as a very fast, very dynamic footballer and one who can play in each of the three positions behind the striker.
‘Willian is a creative player and for his qualities, I think he needs a bit of time to express himself,’ he added.
‘Again he is a kid that wanted very much to play for Chelsea and he was too many years in Ukraine and in Russia and now he has his first chance to be in a big championship.’
It is great to hear the confidence Mourinho has on his strikers and said that they all possess different kind of qualities which gives us an advantage to utilize them against different opposition defenders. It’s also worth to note that Samuel Eto’o can play as wide forward next to Torres or Ba the same way he won the treble with Mourinho at Inter playing wide to Diego Milito.
When it comes to Willian, we all know about his talents after we saw him a couple of times in the Champions league playing against us even scoring two at Stamford Bridge in a match we came out on top 3-2 at the end.
