Oscar – The biggest enigma

Oscar. For me he’s the biggest enigma in our team. He’s a bit lazy, but then again he works hard. He’s a little incosistant sometimes, but then again he answers with some great games.

I’ve paid great attention to him in the last few games, including the one vs. England that just ended (England 2-1 Brazil). I must say, after my heavy criticisms, Oscar answered with some great games. He did very well against Brentford & Newcastle – 2 games we, unfortunately, didn’t win – 1 draw & 1 loss. However, he was very unlucky & even horrible vs. Reading when he missed 1 or 2 sitters which would’ve probably prevented the 2-2 draw. Most probably, because we were 2-0 up till the 87th minute and those misses came before that. And today (6 February) the game was more like England vs. Oscar. He showed some great skills, passing abilities, pace, vision of the game. When he takes on the #10 role he’s one of the best youngsters in the world. Problem is, with Mata & Hazard competing with him in Chelsea, he can’t seem to prove to us that he’s a fantastic player, thus gaining a lot of critics. True, I’ve said that he’s a little lazy sometimes, I may have said something stupid like ‘Cabaye > Oscar’ but I was talking shit. Cabaye is fantastic but Oscar probably has a little more potential, ESPECIALLY like I said (and he has said himself) – when he takes on the #10 role.

How did the trio Mata-Oscar-Hazard work under Robbie is sometimes beyond me though. They were having fun, they were pretty unstoppable, they were fantastic together. But under Benitez, God knows why – whether a drop of form or because Benitez has benched him a lot, Oscar seems to be the weak link and barely gets the chance to work with Mata & Hazard at the same time. Like I’ve always said – we can only wait and keep watching carefully. Wait and see. Because Oscar is definitely an enigma and with his potential we’ll be right to hope he’ll turn out to be a nice surprise. But just like every other player (young or older) he needs to be a little more consistent. Because he surely has got the potential.

Until the next time, Keep The Blue Flag Flying High.

remember it is his first season in england and he is only 21… let the poor guy some space…

  3. Oscar is really amazing. He got talent and for me is the future world best player. Remember is 21 nd is his first season in PL.. Guys hope Benitez leaves soon and a great manager will be able to bring the best from him. Long live Oscar

  4. The only part of this article I disagree with is the part where you say Oscar is lazy sometimes. I’ve never seen him lazy. Tired, yes. But his work-rate has never been in question.

Spot on. He doesnt seem to have the strength and stamina for the PL. Thats y keeping lamps is so important cause he will be the role model for Oscar.

i disagree with the no10 thing. i think oscar plays his best when playing the pivot role. if we want a proper CDM, we’re gonna have to either use oscar or luiz there all the time. because lamps and ramires just doesn’t work. rami has been getting booked a lot lately for many late challenges because lamps is at the other end of the pitch with mata and the attackers. oscar defends really well, and he could adapt to the role

  7. Oscar is definitely a great player but things hasnt really been working for him since RDM left and Benitez isnt helping the situation at all.As for me,he’s not lazy at all.Just looking forward to the end of the season for a new manager that would bring the best out of him!

  8. Good way of describing, and good piece of writing to get facts regarding my presentation subject matter, which i am going to convey in institution of higher education.
