Player ratings: Chelsea breeze into quarter finals of the Carabao Cup with 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers

Chelsea reached the quarter finals of the league cup tonight with a straight forward, yet hardly vintage 2-0 win against Blackburn Rovers.

I felt we had a few standout performers, and overall an average bunch as a whole, but no complaints on my part tonight.

Robert Sanchez – 5

A clean sheet, which is a positive, but the odd patchy moment with his distribution. If he just sharpens up a bit I think we’ll get by.

Reece James – 7

For a first start since August, tonight was, in my eyes, a really positive night for Reece James who managed to get an hour of minutes into his legs.

He was involved nicely down the right hand side, with two shots, one narrowly going wide – you could argue he was unlucky not to score. A good few days rest ahead of Monday now, where we may see him start?

Axel Disasi – 6

Nothing out of the ordinary tonight which is what you probably want from a centre back in a cup game against a lesser side. I’ve not had many complaints about him all season, so all in all, happy.

Benoit Badiashile – 7

Badiashile’s first appearance since last season was a steady one and it was great to see him score his first home goal for us. Five from five duels won (three aerial, two ground) and a good hour in him – got to be happy with that.

Marc Cucurella – 7

Another really positive night for Marc Cucurella I felt. He’s improved a lot in the last few games and it was great to see that continue tonight – really happy for him and how he’s performing of late.

Enzo Fernandez – 8

One of, if not our best player tonight, which is rarely a shock when it comes to Enzo. Seven key passes as per Sofascore, and over 100 passes completed at a success rate of over 90%. He is just sublime, and a level above at most times.

Lesley Ugochukwu – 6

Not much to report on Ugochukwu tonight I felt, a pretty steady overall performance with him winning over half of his ground duels. He’s been a useful player to have in these cup games and certainly has proved himself to be capable.

Conor Gallagher – 6

Much like Ugochukwu, tonight was a standard evening for Gallagher as well. I didn’t think he was exactly great, but I feel it’d be harsh to say he was ‘bad’ too, so a six is about where I’d have him.

Cole Palmer – 7

Every time Palmer gets the ball in our games, it feels like things happen, and tonight was no different. His linkup with players around is always neat, and he completed three from five attempted dribbles tonight.

All in all, again, another really tidy night for a player who looks like he gets better every week in a Chelsea shirt.

Nicolas Jackson – 5

I hoped tonight could’ve been an opportunity for Jackson to score a goal or two, but unfortunately it was a relatively quiet one. No shot on target, with three blocked, and one ‘big chance’ missed. Not his night, and I suspect pressure could still build on him.

Raheem Sterling – 7

A goal which put the shine on his performance, but all in all he was decent enough for this evening. Five from nine dribbles completed, eight from 17 ground duels won – I suppose it’s not one worth complaining much about.

Mauricio Pochettino – 6

No complaints tonight – a strong team that got the job done, albeit not vintage. A win is a win, let’s move onto Monday.

Levi Colwill – 6

Not much to report but a steady half hour cameo, and nice to keep him fresh ahead of the next few games 

Malo Gusto – 6

Much like Colwill, no worries or complaints, yet nothing to shout about either.
