Player ratings: Chelsea dismantle Burnley 4-1 courtesy of Raheem Sterling brilliance

We head into the international break with three wins in a row! Who’d have thought?

After going 1-0 down with a poor start, we pulled ourselves back into the game and took the second half by storm, with an eventually comfortable three points.

An all round positive day, with a mixture of brilliant performances, as well as some slightly more average ones. It isn’t perfect, and that’s fine for now. It’s progress.

Robert Sanchez – 6

Again, not much to report after a quiet performance from Robert Sanchez. 94% passing accuracy was very encouraging again.

Marc Cucurella – 6

Better again, in the second half anyway. I was calling for Marc Cucurella to be taken off at half-time as he simply felt like a red card waiting to happen, but a redemption in the second half saw him cap off his performance with four tackles and three interceptions (Sofascore).

He’s done enough at right back, but Reece James will be welcomed back with open arms for sure.

Axel Disasi – 6

Another okay day for Axel Disasi this afternoon, however, like Silva, partially at fault for Burnley’s opener. There’s really not an awful lot to report with our backline today, as luckily, most of the action and excitement was at the other end!

Thiago Silva – 5

Average is the word, not ‘poor’ but not ‘good’ from Silva today, just average. As expected, an abundance of touches of the ball and four long balls completed, however was partially at fault for Burnley’s goal and part of a backline that had a very poor first half.

Levi Colwill – 6

A rough first half today with a poor lapse in concentration that fortunately didn’t lead to Burnley doubling their advantage. However, once the game opened up more in the second half and we got into our flow, Colwill looked more comfortable, a lot better.

I’m excited to see how he looks when James is back, maybe less attacking priority, and we can see more of his ability on the ball from deep? Decent, nonetheless.

Moises Caicedo – 8

Value is starting to be seen. Today was a proper performance and one in which you can see why we were so desperate to sign this guy.

Five long balls completed, 96% pass completion, and, stats aside, the catalyst for our third goal, showing great tenacity to win the ball in a promising position for us. It really feels like it’s clicked for him now and I could not be happier.

Enzo Fernandez – 7

Classy as ever, over 10 long balls completed (Sofascore) and he oozed class in all phases of play.

I still am of the belief that his effectiveness in the final third could do with some work, however with four goals today, it’s not something that’s exactly a problem for us. Our partnership of him and Caicedo is really taking shape, and it’s brilliant.

Conor Gallagher – 5

After a superb, industrious performance earlier this week, I felt that today was a step backwards for sure.

We know he offers a workrate that not many others can match, but in spells of the first half where we needed something incisive, it felt like he wasn’t ‘needed’ in that midfield three, however when the game opened up, it seemed to suit him better, at least I thought so.

Cole Palmer – 7

“Prem soon come” and it came today for Cole Palmer, with an emphatic penalty to put us ahead in the second half. Adding an assist to his name too, he visibly gets better each time he plays for us and is already a crucial part to what we’re building, in my eyes.

Impressive, and improving all the time.

Armando Broja – 4

After an encouraging display on Monday night, Broja had a tougher affair this afternoon and was taken off at half-time. A mere 17 touches of the ball (according to Sofascore), with little to note of his 45 minutes on the pitch.

It isn’t a performance I would look to criticize though, with him still building back to full fitness.

Raheem Sterling – 8

All in all, Raheem Sterling was fantastic in the end today. In what was a lacklustre, laboured first half, he was the one trying to make things happen, and was rewarded when his cross deflected in to equalize for us just before half-time. Early in the second half, another great burst of pace won the penalty, converted by Cole Palmer, and he even had a big involvement in Jackon’s goal, our fourth, not also forgetting he grabbed a goal of his own. Much more like it, much more positive, and exactly what we want from him.

Mauricio Pochettino – 7

Kept the team consistent, trusted himself and his selection of Raheem Sterling, which paid off for us. We’ve got a platform now, and we can go into the break feeling positive, and hopefully out the other end of it feeling optimistic for our tough upcoming run of games.

Nicolas Jackson – 7

A real impact. A well taken goal, and really just what we hoped for from him today. I’m happy, we’re all happy, at least my timeline seems to suggest so.

Mykhailo Mudryk – N/A

Ian Maatsen – N/A

All in all, positive feelings and three wins in the bounce. Get in!
