Player ratings: Chelsea drop points in crucial momentum opportunity

Chelsea drop home points again and are made to pay for poor finishing, and poor decision making!

Robert Sanchez – 5

Remains an incredibly uncomfortable watch, flapping at Kamada’s shot on the second half and generally just rarely looking too convincing.

Malo Gusto – 5

Not exactly poor but equally, not great. Felt he didn’t offer all too much and didn’t appear to be heavily involved in the game.

Wesley Fofana – 7

Really positive today, good in buildup and defended well. Certainly finding his feet again it seems and looking better alongside Colwill.

Levi Colwill – 8

Probably our most impressive player today in my eyes, winning all of his aerial duels, the majority of his ground duels and making an astonishing 106 passes – whilst that doesn’t exactly win you games, it’s good to see him looking comfortable on the ball.

Marc Cucurella – 6

Not much to report from the left side as a whole today. Thought Cucurella was better than an “average” 5, hence bumping him to a 6, but he was okay at best.

Enzo Fernandez – 6

Sometimes incredible, sometimes irritating today. Played a couple of lovely passes at times, especially the one over the top for Madueke in the first half which was saved by Henderson. Felt he was, on the flipside, a bit sloppy at times.

Moises Caicedo – 7

Positive, involved and won 8 of his 12 ground duels with 5 interceptions as well. I feel as though he’s getting/looking more comfortable in this system.

Pedro Neto – 5

I didn’t feel Neto offered much at all today out on the left, partially because the ball didn’t get out to him enough, shown by his just 22 touches today.

Cole Palmer – 6

Better than an average 5 and picked himself up another assist but didn’t quite find his stride today for me. Hopefully he’ll be back to his best after the international break.

Noni Madueke – 5

Good in spells but didn’t do quite enough this afternoon. His defensive workrate however is certainly improving as shown in a couple of examples today.

Nicolas Jackson – 6

Should’ve won it for us at the end, though good to see him on the scoresheet in the first half. The chance at the end though does raise questions again as to why we didn’t sign another striker with more consistency infront of goal.

Substitutes:

Joao Felix – 5

Didn’t really do much today when he came on, couple of nice turns and touches but not overly impactful.

Mykhailo Mudryk – N/A

I didn’t catch all too much of the last 10 minutes with some technical issues, so hard to judge Mudryk.

Christopher Nkunku – N/A

Enzo Maresca – 6

Felt the first half was absolutely superb, very controlled and we should’ve been at least 2 goals ahead. Second half however though was poor, we struggled to break Palace down and it felt like we ran out of ideas.
