Player Ratings – Chelsea FC v Norwich City

Matic Shields
Matic Challenges for the ball

Chelsea played their last Home game of the season against Norwich City who’s fighting for relegation survival, hoping to get a win after back-to-back lost at home.

Many Chelsea fans expected it to be an easy win for the boys in Blues, in what was a tightly contested game. Norwich City were Solid at the back and were able to prevent the Blue Boys from Scoring as the match ended in a goaless draw.

This result further put Chelsea’s title chances beyond doubt.

Torres Cries

Nonetheless, this are my players rating:

Mark Schwarzer – 6.5/10

Schwazer took the No. 1 position again, as Cech is still unable to play because of an injury. Schwarzer was rarely troubled as the Norwich attackers created few clear-cut chances in front of goal. Nonetheless, Kudos to him for keeping a clean sheet.

Branislav Ivanovic – 6.5/10

Ivanovic was solid at the back and was also influential going forward as Chelsea tried to break the Norwich defense. It was indeed a fine showing from the Serbian.

Gary Cahil – 7.5/10

Gary has been in sparkling form this season. He was solid at the back and did a vital tackle to prevent Norwich from scoring. No wonder he was named in the PFA Team of the Season. Gary sacrifices a lot for the Team.

John Terry – 7.0/10

Terry was also solid at the back, and prevented the Norwich attackers from creating clear-cut chances. It was a brilliant showing from the captain.

Ashley Cole – 7.0/10

Ashley was called upon to start at LB again. Ashley was brilliant right from the start of the whistle defending well and going forward to trouble the Norwich defense. It was a brilliant performance for the England international.

Frank Lampard – 6.5/10

Frank was called upon again to play in holding midfield alongside matic. Generally, is performance was good.

Nemanja Matic – 6.5/10

It was a fair performance from the Serbian, as he played his role in midfield well. He was later substituted for Torres.

Muhammed Salah – 6.0/10

Wasn’t a bad performance for the Egyptian young star. Gave everything he could, overall was a fair performance for the young lad.

Willian – 7.5/10

Solid as usual, willian showed why he’s now called the powerhouse of Chelsea. He kept going till the last minutes. A brilliant performance for the Brazilian star.

Andre Schurrle – 8.0/10

Schurrle was brilliant right from kick-off, he troubled the Norwich defense all through the 90mins.

Demba Ba – 6.5/10

Ba was closely marked by the Norwich defenders which prevented him from getting clear-cut chances on goal. A fair Performance from the lad.

Used Subs:

David Luiz – 6.5/10

David was introduced in the early stages of the second half. He had a fair game as he tried creating chancing while going forward.

Eden Hazard – 7.5/10

After being criticized by Mourinho after Chelsea were knocked out in the Champions League. Hazard proved why he is the current PFA Young Player of the Year and one of Chelsea top performers this season. He was introduced in the early stages of the second half, he troubled the Norwich defense and had one good chance saved by the goalie. Hazard was simply brilliant!

Fernando Torres – 6.0/10

Torres had little impact in the game as he was introduced in the latter stages of the match.

  1. willian 7.5 ? r u kiddin me ?

    • Trust, if Willian was a 7.5, Schurrle should have got a 9.

  2. Cahill should have had the 8/10 and Ba should have been rated 6/10. Willian did not have one of his best games and should be 6.5/10.

  3. Stamford Boy

I love The Blue and support The Blue all the time. But our team in the match versus Norwich sucks. All below 5. Don’t jerk off to say they got a 7.5 or 8. We will never get any trophy next season with the performance yesterday and the existing squad.

shit ratings. stop following someone else’s series

  5. Fine showing – 6.5/10
    Brilliant showing – 7/10

Are these ratings are a joke?
Stopping a defensive, low-scoring, under achieving team from troubling a defence is not merit worthy, especially when effectively playing with two defensive midfielders (Lampard and Matic).

    All below 5.
