Player ratings: Chelsea lose to Manchester City in up and down performance

A poor night full of defensive errors saw Chelsea concede four, some of which in quick succession to Manchester City.

With just two pre season games left, improvement especially defensively will be needed

Robert Sanchez – 4

Not good enough. We all know it, and even despite the goals not all being on him, he just isn’t good enough and I’m hoping to see some of Jorgensen against Real Madrid.

Reece James – 4

Ripped apart down his right hand side, let down by our aggressive approach which simply didn’t work tonight.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 5

Poor and part of a poor defensive performance all night. Work to do.

Levi Colwill – 4

Like James, was ripped to shreds and got caught out a fair few times. We’ve got some real issues to iron out defensively and, unfortunately not a lot of time to sort them ahead of the season starting.

Malo Gusto – 5

Poor and didn’t look comfortable wide left or even in the middle tonight. Hoping for an improvement next time around.

Romeo Lavia – 7

The only one positive tonight, a game which was a reminder that Lavia is absolutely superb and will be a big player for us this season if he stays fit.

Moises Caicedo – 5

Poor and gave away the ball for City’s second goal. Part of me is tempted to give the benefit of the doubt considering it was his first game of this pre-season.

Enzo Fernandez – 5

One nice pass into Nkunku in the first half which was unlucky not to result in an assist, but overall didn’t really have any positive impact on the game.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 4

4 might be harsh but I didn’t really see anything of him tonight. Granted though I don’t think whatever the starting lineup and system was particularly suited him though.

Christopher Nkunku – 6

Wasn’t the problem tonight and unlucky not to at least get onto the scoresheet. Didn’t like him as a 9, much preferred as a 10 in behind a striker.

Mykhailo Mudryk – 2

Nothing, just nothing positive to add at all. I am struggling to see it with Mudryk now, losing hope he’ll finally come good.

Wesley Fofana – N/A

Benoit Badiashile – N/A

Didn’t see enough to justify a rating.

Raheem Sterling – 7

Had a good second half, scoring a goal and trying to create some good moments overall. Continued a solid pre season.

Lesley Ugochukwu – N/A

Not on the pitch long enough.

Noni Madueke – 7

A certain bright spark, creating some decent moments and scoring a goal right at the end.

Marc Guiu – N/A

Didn’t feel I saw enough from him to justify a rating.
