Player ratings: Chelsea suffer another away defeat to Wolves

Back to square minus five. A fourth away loss in a row, the same old issues, the same names to blame. Is it a surprise anymore?

Djordje Petrovic – 7

One of only two actual positives today with a few big saves, most notably his one from Lemina’s header. Still no complaints about him as of yet.

Malo Gusto – 6

Not terrible but not explicitly great either, and another who showed his youth in picking up another stupid yellow card. Unless it was for the purpose of managing minutes, I really can’t for the life of me understand why he was taken off.

Axel Disasi – 5

Poor all in all with a few clear mistakes, but again I’ll half give the benefit of the doubt to Disasi because it isn’t all on him. He’s less of a problem than Silva is of late, that’s for sure.

Thiago Silva – 4

One of our experienced names and he was so poor today, being almost walked past at times not not forgetting him nearly handing Wolves a goal from his slip. He needs to come out of the team and make way for a different pairing or trio, because his frailties are showing far more than usual this season.

Levi Colwill – 4

Again, out of position, though I understand the idea of building in a three (no fault of his own) and I feel for him, yet so poor. For once, can we see him as a centre back, in a proper back three or four, with a fullback/wing back next to him? Please?

Lesley Ugochukwu – 5

A bit of a nothing performance from Ugochukwu today, but what can he do alongside Gallagher this afternoon?

Conor Gallagher – 5

Granted, he was alongside someone who I don’t believe he’s started next to in the PL this season (correct me if you wish!) but he was so poor today. Several shocking passes and losses of the ball that led to Wolves hitting us at the other end – it was just not his afternoon as it wasn’t for many.

Cole Palmer – 3

Offered nothing for the second time this week and saw everything he tried to do, read by whoever was defending against him. To top it all off, he’s suspended for Palace next week.

Raheem Sterling – 4

Despite a few good early take-ons against Nelson Semedo, Sterling’s performance dropped completely off a cliff after his quite simply unforgivable show of greed in the first half, by not squaring it to Palmer or Jackson, and instead putting a tame shot right at Sa. Beyond that, it was a dull performance from one of our more experienced figures.

Nicolas Jackson – 3

Utterly useless, with alleged cheers from the away end as he went off. A day where he has offered us absolutely nothing going forward, and showed his childishness and lack of maturity yet again by picking up his eight yellow card of the season. Watching him alongside Broja today has only even further reinforced my desires for us to sign a proper, proven striker.

Armando Broja – 2

I don’t know if this appears harsh but I couldn’t tell you one notable thing that Broja did today. Fluffed his lines with his early ‘chance’ by overplaying it and hardly seemed to touch the ball afterwards. Shocking.

Mauricio Pochettino – 4

Tenth at Christmas, more losses than wins. A totally pathetic showing so far with too many questions over his tactical ability on a whole. I doubt he’s got as long as the media portrays.

Noni Madueke – N/A

Tempted to give a 6 to Noni today as he added a hint of positivity on the right side.

Benoit Badiashile – N/A

Ian Maatsen – N/A

Mykhailo Mudryk – 5

Hard for him to build up any momentum when randomly dropped after saving us midweek. What do we expect?

Christopher Nkunku – 7

A goal and all round positivity from Nkunku today. He’s quite clearly going to be someone we all feel sorry for, playing in this team.

Anyway – I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and festive period. Try not to let Chelsea ruin it, as hard as that may be!
