Chelsea’s rut continues as it becomes four games without a win, after a late equaliser from Jean-Philippe Mateta at Selhurst Park.
It was a bright first half performance, bit Chelsea’s inability to kill the game off meant we were always susceptible to dropping points.
Robert Sanchez – 6
Had a couple of questionable moments at points in the game but it wasn’t his worst display by any means.
Malo Gusto – 6
Pretty average at best today. Couple of nice moments and two “key passes” during the game but still not offering anywhere near what he was last season.
Josh Acheampong – 7
One of our strongest performers today, had a really solid first league start. 84% pass accuracy as well, something I’ve noticed is how comfortable he is on the ball and today he did seem the same.
Levi Colwill – 7
Overall dealt with Mateta pretty well. Strong in his ground duels and not too bad in his aerials either. Also completed five from five long balls and had over 90% passes completed.
Marc Cucurella – 7
Had a really lively afternoon I thought, it felt like he covered most of the pitch. A combined eight clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles too – solid.
Moises Caicedo – 7
Another decent display – it certainly wasn’t the defensive end of the pitch that let us down today. Him and Enzo partnered nicely again I thought to keep a good hold on the midfield, mainly in the first half.
Enzo Fernandez – 7
Much the same as Caicedo – the pair worked nicely together again. Had two shots from outside the box, probably should’ve had at least the first of those on target. Not a bad performance though.
Pedro Neto – 5
I don’t think he’s offering us enough at the moment I’ll be completely honest. He isn’t a goalscorer, at least a natural one, and he isn’t creating enough either. It begs the question as to why he played the whole game. I can’t fault his work ethic though, that’s always been good.
Cole Palmer – 6
I would’ve given a seven but his loss of possession leading to Palace’s equaliser has damaged that for me. Didn’t have a fantastic game but wasn’t too poor either. Can be argued that he should’ve kept things simple before the goal we conceded though. Why try and beat a man where he did?
Jadon Sancho – 7
Really bright. Had a wonderful assist for our opener and was decent all game long. No issues with how he played today.
Nicolas Jackson – 5
A bit of a ghost in truth. I never felt like he was “in” the game at any point, and in the few moments he had, he didn’t make enough of them.
Substitutes:
Marc Guiu – N/A
Noni Madueke – N/A
Enzo Maresca – 6
Slow at substitutes again but I don’t think today is entirely on that. It isn’t Enzo’s fault that we missed the chances we did and I actually don’t think we played too poorly.
