Player ratings: Chelsea survive horror show with late Nkunku goal

Chelsea win, and keep a clean sheet!

Despite Anthony Taylor’s best efforts to ruin the night for Chelsea, giving an absolutely outrageous EIGHT yellow cards to us, he’ll go home disappointed to see us take the points.

A game in which it’s hard to argue we deserved to win, but it’s a superb result and one we can build on.

Robert Sanchez – 9

Absolutely incredible tonight, several huge saves including one from close range from Kluivert, and the penalty too. A player I rarely give credit but tonight he was fantastic.

Axel Disasi – 3

Shocking, and I do still sit here wondering how he was still on the pitch at the start of the second half. Easily beaten several times and never looked settled on the ball. Hopefully we won’t have to use him at right back for long.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Despite a really poor error giving away the penalty in the first half, I thought Wes had a pretty solid game. Important clean sheet as well.

Levi Colwill – 7

Fantastic, getting better again in a tough game tonight and like I said for Fofana, an important clean sheet for the pair of them.

Marc Cucurella – 6

Decent, seemed to occupy a real variety of different areas/positions on the pitch and looked fairly dangerous late on in the game with his underlapping runs where he was found by Sancho.

Moises Caicedo – 8

Fantastic. Especially when considering he was playing in and around a couple of players who haven’t seen all too many minutes yet this season. Led the midfield very well.

Renato Veiga – 7

Was fairly impressed tonight with how he did fit in. At times looked a little uncomfortable receiving the ball but I think that’ll come in time.

Noni Madueke – 5

Offered very little during the time he was on unfortunately.

Cole Palmer – 5

Felt strange to give Palmer such a low rating but unfortunately it felt as thought he was quite ineffective tonight.

Pedro Neto – 5

Much the same, had a really quiet first half, and was probably fairly replaced at half time.

Nicolas Jackson – 6

A couple of decent moments here and there but didn’t do quite enough tonight.

Substitutes:

Jadon Sancho – 8

Absolutely superb 45 minutes tonight which including the assist for our winner. Hopefully coming to Chelsea is a move that’ll rejuvenated his career, and tonight was a good start for doing so.

Christopher Nkunku – 7

The goal makes his rating tonight, a goal in which he took absolutely superbly. Strength, skill to turn, just absolutely buzzing for him to get that goal tonight.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 7

Very composed, played some lovely passes through midfield and looked comfortable in the middle of an in-possession back three.

Joao Felix – 5

Didn’t really give us much tonight, not a great deal to say.

Enzo Maresca – 6

Definitely didn’t feel we were very well set up or equipped to win tonight however Maresca’s subs were effective. Tosin gave us more stability, Sancho & Nkunku combined for the winner. Really pleased with the result!
