Chelsea are held to a goalless draw at home against Aston Villa, in a performance of two halves.
A positive opening, was followed by a lackluster second 45, and we now must go to Villa Park for a replay to progress in the FA cup…
Djordje Petrovic – 8
Petrovic was absolutely fantastic tonight, making some huge saves in the second half to ensure we didn’t lose, most notably his low save from a Matty Cash effort.
Alfie Gilchrist – 6
Solid, quietly solid tonight. A pass completion of 96% and overall a performance that went under the radar, which really isn’t a bad thing.
Axel Disasi – 6
Tidy enough considering he covered in two positions tonight. Not ‘great’ but not poor at all in my view. It’s always hard to judge when in a makeshift looking backline.
Thiago Silva – 7
Bar an early yellow card, Silva was really good tonight for me, despite the ever present concerns over whether he’s fit enough to keep playing games at the rate we’ve got them at the moment.
He will be crucial over the next few months.
Benoit Badiashile – 6
Tidy enough on the ball and was unlucky not to have a goal of his own in the first half. He wasn’t exactly poor at left back, but I hope it isn’t something that’ll need to continue, once Chilwell’s fully fit.
Moises Caicedo – 7
As ever, for the last few weeks, a comfortable and neat performance from Caicedo tonight. 57 from 60 passes made (95%), won six from 11 duels too, decent.
Enzo Fernandez – 6
Not a standout tonight, and another game with just over 50 touches of the ball. It’s frustrating when he’s unable to have the impact he had last season.
Conor Gallagher – 5
Made some really good runs but his end product tonight was nothing short of horrendous.
Not looking up for cutbacks, and there was a real example of that in the first half, however, off the ball he was lively as ever.
Noni Madueke – 5
Not a major impact, it just felt like he was going through the motions at times – not to forget, missing a massive first half chance.
Cole Palmer – 6
Not poor, and was great off the ball tonight but missed some massive opportunities on both halves. Not his night, but there’s always the replay…
Raheem Sterling – 6
Hands down the most frustrating player we have at times. He was very good in the first half, but nearly nonexistent in the second.
Plenty of wasted passing opportunities, not taken. Frustrating.
Mauricio Pochettino – 5
Nothing much to say, a lineup we expected to a degree and some questionable in game choices. Lets hope we nick it in the replay.
Ben Chilwell – 5
25 minutes played and not much to report, so a standard five here.
Mykhailo Mudryk – 4
Not a great cameo, four touches in 15 minutes, this is cause for concern again. Where do we go in terms of bringing him up to speed?
Armando Broja – 4
Really poor, a lack of involvement when on the pitch and a poor five touches. It hardly felt like he was even on.
Carney Chukwuemeka – N/A
Onto Anfield…
