Cole Palmer scores an incredible FOUR as Chelsea triumph over Brighton again!
Still much work to do for the blues, but positive signs are smeared all over this team now as Enzo Maresca wins his first home league match, putting us up to third at least for a few hours.
Robert Sanchez – 4
Most certainly a step backwards today, poor for both Brighton goals, and quite literally giving Baleba the ball for their second.
However, he did make a couple of decent saves, not that it fully amended his errors. A frustrating one.
Malo Gusto – 6
Solid, nothing out of the ordinary, but good for him to get more minutes into his legs since returning from injury.
Wesley Fofana – 6
Not too bad again today, didn’t contribute anything negatively to the two we conceded.
Levi Colwill – 6
Much the same as Fofana, both were okay and saw the game out quite well in the second half, just frustrating that two preventable goals went against them.
Marc Cucurella – 6
Again, all the sixes for our back line today. No one was extraordinary, which I suppose in some respects is a good thing.
Moises Caicedo – 7
Fantastic again, another great performance today, winning the ball in good areas and won 6 from 10 of his ground duels.
A good day at the office.
Enzo Fernandez – 6
Nothing overly special today, still hoping to see some more from him but I suspect that will come in time.
Noni Madueke – 6
Was a killer of the Brighton high line, should’ve had a goal of his own when we were 3-2 up but didn’t.
I think the gap between him and Neto is certainly narrowing now and that spot is up for grabs, got to keep him hungry.
Cole Palmer – 10
I don’t even know what to say anymore, each week this lad just does something even more incredible and it makes us all feel so lucky that he plays for us.
Four goals, including a sublime free kick. Palmer again ole oleeeee!
Jadon Sancho – 8
Another assist today and a penalty won, it’s been a superb first 3 league appearances for Sancho who’s certainly slotted in well and linked up with Palmer very well today.
Nicolas Jackson – 6
A quieter day at the office today which will be disappointing for him considering the chances we had.
He did managed an assist for Palmer’s first which is always a good sign, just no goal this time.
Substitutes:
Pedro Neto – 5
Not much to say here, came on and showed a few nice bits but not overly impactful.
Renato Veiga – 6
Really solid I felt, came on and helped us see the game through.
Romeo Lavia – N/A
Mykhailo Mudryk – N/A
Christopher Nkunku – N/A
Enzo Maresca – 8
If the first half plan was to surrender possession and bait Brighton’s high line, then my word, did it work.
Changed it in the second half to establish a bit more control (in my view) – showing much flexibility and really happy for him to get his first home league win.
