Player ratings: Reece James fires Chelsea into good second leg position against Copenhagen

Chelsea scrape past Copenhagen to take a 2-1 lead into next week’s second leg.

A lacklustre first half was improved upon in the second, but no clean sheet means this tie is still very much alive.

Robert Sanchez – 5

A pretty average performance all in all, nothing to write home about. A bit annoying that he didn’t end up with a clean sheet but the goal wasn’t down to him.

Trevoh Chalobah – 5

Much the same as the other defenders tonight, nothing to really write home about, a pretty standard performance but poor to give away the foul leading to their goal.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 6

Standard again. Not poor, not great, and not a great deal to say.

Benoit Badiashile – 6

Nice to see him return to the team tonight. Nothing out of the ordinary to write about, but fairly solid overall for the part he did play.

Malo Gusto – N/A

Reece James – 7

Scored a fantastic goal to put us 1-0 up and coasted the remainder of the game. Another unusual performance all in all, much like the entire team.

Moises Caicedo – 7

Only played for the first 45 minutes but played just as well as he usually does. A pretty relaxed performance from him, bit effortlessly good.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 5

Not in the game at all, offered little to nothing and at times felt like he wasn’t playing.

Cole Palmer – 5

Never really got into the game. Had two shots that each went not too fat wide but that was about it. Struggling to find form it feels at the moment.

Tyrique George – 6

Got an assist for our second goal and had a couple of bright moments here and there. Not a great deal else though.

Shumaira Mheuka – 5

Never really got into the game in what was a really poor first half from a team perspective. Shame he didn’t get a little more than 45 minutes but you’ve got to start somewhere.

Substitutes:

Marc Cucurella – 6

Pretty average performance all in all, much like the remainder of our backing.

Enzo Fernandez – 7

Came on and added more bite and intensity to the midfield. Took his goal really well too.

Christopher Nkunku – 5

Not really too involved in the game overall, hard to justify anything other than a five.

Jadon Sancho – N/A

Levi Colwill – 5

Lost his marker for the Copenhagen goal which was poor from him. Not much else to say about his performance overall.
