Rafa Benitez has won the manager of the month after being unbeaten in the Premier League in April with three wins from four, Benitez has guided Chelsea to third place. According to me, Rafa deserved the manager of the month.
The last time a Chelsea manager won the award was back in April 2011, just before Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by the club.
Even though he had to put up with a torrent of criticism from Chelsea fans, Benitez has restored his reputation by creating a stylish side who have become favourites for third place in the Premier League and have qualified for the Europa League final.
Ferguson had said: ‘To be fair to him, he has done a good job in the last few weeks, but he is concerned about his CV. He does refer to it a lot.’
In total it is the sixth time Benitez has claimed the prize, and he is still among an elite who have managed to win it in consecutive months – in November and December 2005.
Chelsea’s April in total consisted of six wins, one draw and two losses, away to Rubin Kazan and to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final. In all, Benitez has taken Chelsea to semi-finals in the Capital One Cup, FA Cup and the Europa League.
Yesterday after wining a 3-1 at Stamford Bridge against Basel we extended our unbeaten record in Europe at the Stamford Bridge: P 13 W 11 D 2 L 0. Chelsea have made it to the final in the Europa League. We’ll be facing Benfica at Amsterdam on the 15th of May. If Chelsea wins the Europa League we will be the first club to win the Champions League and Europa League.
Do you feel Rafa actually deserved the Manager of the Month?
This award is dedicated to all the boo boys
He sure deserves it,he has done a nice job with the blues,as much as we may hate n despise him for his insultive words while he was at liverpool, for me,his tactical and technical prowess was never in doubt.
i didnt like him but am now convinced after he was able to win without start’n mata the maestro! He has done a great job! I hpe we win against benfica to lift the trophy
He deserves it. Just like SAF said today, results have been improved in recent weeks. I feel the change has been in the last 2 months. Now it kind of feels like we can actually win the next game, unlike the times during this season when results have been unpredictable for a club like chelsea.
Managers only need time but unfortunately Benitez won’t have time to fully do what he can at Chelsea. Sure,he made a mistake here and there when picking teams but that happens to every manager. Just like Mourinho who failed to give Benzema and Kaka more minutes against Dortmund, the two players who actually made the difference in the last 10 minutes of the second leg. When Benitez made such mistakes, almost every Chelsea supporter wanted to hang him. Unfair. Kudos to him,he deserves this award.
actually yes.no dout about it
