Antonio Rudiger has rejected a new contract offer from Chelsea worth closer to £200,000 a week that he was asking for, via the very reliable reporter Sami Mokbel from the daily mail.
Chelsea remain optimistic of keeping Rudiger and both parties lines are open for more communication and optimism is there.
Thomas Tuchel is desperate for Rudiger to stay and is described as vital to his plans.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea can convince Rudiger to stay, but there’s no doubting he has been vital for Chelsea since Tuchel arrived and has recently emerged as a solid option in 4 at the back formations, something that was recently suggested that he wasn’t as good in.
Rudiger knows he can earn as much as £400,000-per-week – inclusive of signing on fees and bonuses – if he leaves Chelsea on a Bosman transfer.
Indeed, the fact he can earn so much elsewhere is causing Chelsea significant difficulty in putting together a financial package that will persuade Rudiger to turn down other offers.Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the overseas clubs to have offered Rudiger pre-contracts ahead of the summer.
