Chelsea are Sami Khedira’s first priority according to Jack Wilson of the Daily Star. Khedira is a hot property and is wanted by Manchester United and Arsenal but German International’s smooth relationship with Jose puts Chelsea in the driving seat.
Jack Wilson writes:
“The Real Madrid star has his mind set on swapping the Bernabeu for London, according to sources in Spain. But it’s Chelsea – not Arsenal – who are leading the race to sign him …United chiefs were pondering a £34m move but Mourinho, who worked with Khedira in Madrid, is the front runner to snap him up.”
Manchester United reportedly had a £34m bid rejected by Real as it was too late to be considered ‘serious’.
The 26 year old has made 11 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti this season but could be on his way out as Chelsea are in the hunt of a world class defensive midfielder.
Khedira himself doesn’t seem to be very happy at Madrid either and recently expressed his displease at being made a ‘scapegoat’ whenever Madrid face defeat.
“I feel insulted by the Spanish press, I will never be one of their favourite sons. I began the season on the bench and once again I’ve been made a scapegoat. They don’t value me, even when I play well. I’m not Spanish, I didn’t cost a lot and I’m a disciple of Mourinho.”
Khedira was highly rated by Jose at his time in Real as he has always favored players who have worked under him in his previous clubs. Will Khedira be the new addition to the list of Jose’s favorites following him to his new club?
Khedira is valued at around £40m by Real Madrid.
