Shaping up for Next Season Part 4

601433_347459902037146_215662368_nIn part 4 we are going to look at the Striker role the lone man up top for us. We have had some great strikers through the years at Chelsea, some did not do well (Sheva, Crespo) but then we have some that did great and amazing things for us especially Drogba. We now have a different set of strikers in the team.

Who do we have?

We have a few Strikers on our books at Chelsea Torres, Ba, Lukaku, Bamford and Feruz. These are just to name a few.

Fernando Torres
The 50mill man from Liverpool cost us a lot. He has had a troubled time at Chelsea but is coming into his own again and I think we should keep him he’s not the best in the air but he is a nuisance and a lot of the time the defender messes the header giving a chance for us to pick the ball up and attack. He may not of scored the amount of goals we where expecting but he has scored crucial goals (Barca) and has created crucial chances (Created the corner in the CL Final). Unlike at Liverpool at Chelsea he now works for the team rather than for himself. He said that even though he was enjoying football at Liverpool and scoring lots of goals he said he did not feel like part of them team there and still felt like an outsider. When he came to us Liverpool fans called him a traitor but in fairness he wanted out of there, the board had lied to him about his injuries when he was injured he came back a month earlier than the club doctor had told the board and the board did not tell Torres this, that has been the catalyst to his drop in form. He is gaining that form back and I think we should keep him as he is becoming a good player for us.

Demba Ba
The man who does not know what a simple goal is has been hot and cold for us since he signed for us but his big presence has been useful and can hold the ball up well and challenge in the air. When we bought him I thought he was a good acquisition and still believe that he can be a strong reliable striker if not I am not sure what to do with Ba We bought him because of FFP coming into play.

Romelu Lukaku
The big Belgium forward has impressed on loan this season at West Brom and has shown his class well for them. he has proven he is ready for the Premiership as last season he was too good for the u21 team as he was big, powerful and physical so other players could not handle him. I think he should stay next season and prove his worth when he plays which I can see being quite a lot if we keep our rotation of the squad up.

Patrick Bamford
The little striker was injured while on loan at MK Dons came back to heal and then went back to the Dons for the rest of the season because he wanted to prove his worth, gain experience and regain form and fitness. Last season he built a deadly partnership with Lukaku in the reserves and youth teams. Fast, clever with a good shot. Bamford could become a great striker but will have to work hard to get to the top.

Islam Feruz
The tricky, speedy Scottish striker has been a revalation to the youth team putting in countless outstanding displays and showing great potential. He has a good eye for goal as well and built a good playing relationship with Piazon before he went out on Loan.

As a Whole

1st Choice
Our 1st choice striker should be Torres as he is starting to repay our faith in him and even though he is 29 keep him as we paid big money for him and unless we sell him for 20mill+ and buy say Lewaandowski for the money we get from selling Torres I don’t see why we should spend millions on a expensive striker who will have to adapt to the premier league when we have 3 already.

2nd Choicee
My second choice will be Demba Ba as if we keep him I do see him being second string to Torres.

3rd Choice
Will be Romelu Lukaku who plays in Capital One Cup games and is used as a substitute striker.

The Other Two
I think the other two need time out on Loan in the Championship or a top League 1 team.

  1. porque algunos articulos dicen que se debe ir torres y otros que debe seguir?

  2. As much as i agree that torres is becoming a real threat in front of goal, i don’t see him being Chelsea’s number 1. i think Ba should be it! But having said that we can alter our formation to a 4-4-2 and play both together cause it imposes a bigger threat!
