Sources : Aston Villa discussed Chalobah plus the latest on Fofana

Aston Villa are one of a number of clubs to have internally discussed the option of signing Trevoh Chalobah, Northern based sources tell ChelseaFC365. No formal discussions have taken place with Chelsea yet who are holding off letting Chalobah go until the club complete Wesley Fofana, or another centre back should Fofana not eventually join Chelsea.

As The Athletic reported today, Aston Villa have also made an enquiry to Southampton for Jan Bednarek. Steven Gerrard is not short of CB options but the club are in the market for a Diego Carlos replacement after a horrific injury and we understand that they have discussed Chalobah internally, with many taking note of the amount of games Chalobah played for Chelsea last season after initially being pencilled in for a loan move.

Wesley Fofana update :

Been a bit hesitant to put this out there as many sources I’ve been speaking to have heard similar but couldn’t fully verify it. Anyway, I have heard that Fofana did not train on Thursday with Leicester amid ongoing tension over a move.

On Wednesday it’s thought that Fofana was also absent, but then a source told me that he WAS there, so I am less sure on this.

Fofana hasn’t got to the stage where he’s handed in a formal transfer request, but he has made his desire verbally known to Brendan Rodgers and he is growing impatient. Chelsea are still yet to submit the 3rd and important formal bid.

Chelsea’s second bid was not thought to be £70m, despite reports.
