Sources have told LondonsFirst that Moises Caicedo is NOT injured and missed out on Brighton’s friendly game this afternoon in an attempt to force a move through to Chelsea.
Caicedo’s agent Manuel Sierra has been working closely with Chelsea’s sporting directors, particularly Paul Winstanley, as the two sides negotiate in an attempt to find an agreement.
Sierra and Moises Caicedo took the decision to make the first “drastic” move today towards Brighton, as both agent and player are frustrated over Brighton’s demands towards Chelsea.
Moises Caicedo’s camp feel that a verbal agreement has not been honoured, as in January, Brighton’s hierarchy and manager Roberto De Zerbi told the player that he would be able to leave in the summer for an acceptable offer.
Suggestions of a formal transfer request from Moises Caicedo have been met with a counter by sources that the player has already asked to leave the club verbally at least once this window.
Chelsea meanwhile feel they have made acceptable and respectable offers, but are willing to up the bid try again before looking at alternatives.
LondonsFirst also understands via sources that Mauricio Pochettino has asked the club to bring a midfielder in before the Liverpool match, and has been slightly frustrated with the slow incomings.
Chelsea will try to strike an agreement in the next few days to allow Pochettino to have the option of picking Caicedo for the Liverpool match, though should this transfer get done in time, the manager could still opt for existing players who have built chemistry with Enzo Fernandez during pre-season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are receiving no positivity from Crystal Palace in their pursuit for Michael Olise. Chelsea wanted to move fast on the deal, but Crystal Palace want to keep the player and have so far not agreed to help Chelsea with information on Olise’s latest injury.
Chelsea could look at alternative routes to make a decision on whether or not to formally move for Olise by working with the player and his camp to determine the exact state of his injury.
Sources though have also told LondonsFirst to not rule out a surprise name, as the club look at the attacking midfield and right wing position to be occupied with one signing.
