The 50 Million Pounds Are Still To Be Repaid

On Sunday night, Fernando Torres had his best game in a Chelsea shirt since signing from Liverpool more than two and a half years ago. It was a Torres we all wanted to see from day 1. The 50 Million price tag hasn’t been very kind on him and he has struggled for form and most importantly goals in his time with the Blues. But has it all changed just yet? have the 50 Million pounds been repaid?

The El Nino we knew from Atletico and Liverpool was one of the most deadliest strikers in Europe and scoring goals for fun. Nobody expected that dip in form as it happened since his move to Chelsea. There have been goals here and there specially in the Cup competitions and he did have a major hand in the Europa League triumph last season but nothing was out of this world and all of Us were and do expect alot more of him. To his credit,  Torres has been one to try harder and harder every day and his work ethic also is impeccable. And just maybe we are seeing the glimpses of the old Torres in this season. Having scored 3 goals in his last 2 games for Chelsea, his confidence is sky rocketing at the moment and it just might be the start of his best spell at Chelsea Football Club. But what needs to be done now?

The Fernado Torres of Liverpool. A foregone Memory?

The Chelsea tactics and game play should focus more on giving Fernando enough space and through balls to run forward for as he showed the world he still has that extra yard of pace which can make the best of defenders look like mere fools. Just the way he owned Clichy in the build up to that first goal vs City was something we had literally forgotten he can do. That is one thing i have always stressed upon that in most of the Games he has not been given the chance to express himself properly which does his confidence no good at all and subsequent run of goal less matches. Midfielders need to accommodate their Strike partner if we are to score heavily which is always important for the morale and overall environment within a team. That City game was the perfect example of how a striker can win games on his own through sheer determination and hunger for goals. When Oscar and Hazard were having a bad game, Torres was there to help them out and rescue the loose balls. Thar is one of the most improved aspects of his game when it comes to tracking back and defending. The game against Tottenham was another example of this when he gave the Spurs defenders hell and was chasing the ball around like his life depended on it. That is the Torres we all love. This is the determination of a True blue.

Another lucky thing which has happened to Torres at just the right time is Mr Jose Mourinho. He is a proven Coach for getting the best out of his players and Torres has also somewhat found his touch under him which really hasn’t surprised many fans. The way Mourinho reacted after Torres an esy chance early one 1 on 1 against Hart was one of real concern but deep down he knew that his first choice striker will come good and immediately Torres responded with that assist. They both need each other to be successful and Chelsea Football Club will add a lot more trophies to their glittering cabinet if this partnership can grow bigger and better.
Having said all this, Torres still has a long way to go if he wants to establish himself as a true Chelsea legend and in the class of Didier Drogba. His stats of 39 goals in 142 appearances for Chelsea scarcely guarantee a legendary status within the Club. He is a fan favourite at the Bridge and he always makes headline news whenever he scores for us but that should be on more regular basis from now on. How the world erupted after that goal at the Camp Nou in Barcelona in the Champions League semi final and that celebration was repeated on the Sunday night. He has the full backing of the Club, Mourinho and the Millions of fans around the Globe. Its just up to him to prove that El Nino was never gone. For the moment:
