The embarrassment and elegance of being a Chelsea fan

The embarrassment and elegance of being a Chelsea fan
Probably the worst piece of news I could get today after the Juventus loss. Roberto Di Matteo getting sacked makes absolutely no sense. From a man who won Chelsea their first Champions League and 7th FA Cup, to a person who deep inside, hates the club he once played for with all his heart.
As a Chelsea supporter, I always envied the stability of other clubs. You could sleep that after a horrible loss and not fear the fate of your manager the next day. Chelsea fans meanwhile, need to stay up in fear of missing the news that their manager is no more after the Roman artillery is fired.
It’s not just about winning trophies. Have you seen Arsenal fans every grumble too much about what’s happening at their club? One small loss at Stamford Bridge, and you have the entire Chelsea “so-called” faithful fans around the world wanting someone’s head. Thats not what football’s all about.
To be honest, I feel sick inside. If we just go one season, without sacking a manager, it would be an outright miracle. I just want to see someone stay for a long period of time. Even if our new manager doesn’t win trophies, I’ll be more than happy if he stays on.
Though as much as we can criticize the Chelsea board and the owner, do not forget that Chelsea would not be as global and successful as they are today if Roman did not buy us. No matter what he does, he does it only to see the club prosper. You can call him a spoilt kid throwing out his toys, but everytime a toy is seen hurling out the window, prosperity has followed.
I will not be happy until someone of Di Matteo’s stature takes over Chelsea. Forget world-class manager’s, I want someone who has played for Chelsea or is a Stamford Bridge favorite  Why would you want Benitez and Guardiola, when you’ve mocked them before? Someone like Zola, Poyet, Wise, Eddie or Mourinho can bring back the smile on my face, no one else can.
It’s horrible for Di Matteo after giving his all, to be treated like that is just plain shameful. It’s like everyone’s forgotten about his past and what he has done for the club as a player and manager and showed him the door.
To break it down into two parts, Chelsea will now get a manager either for a short while or for a long term. What I can’t understand is, if Di Matteo had won or drawn at Turin, was he good enough for the Chelsea post?
His record as Chelsea’s manager stands at 24 wins, 9 draws and 9 losses. If Chelsea go for a manager to be hired for a long term, who exactly will be willing to take up the post? Much more to be seen as things slowly uncover in front of our eyes.
For all I hope, this will pan out as a very interesting, emotional and exciting season for Chelsea Football Club.Sherry Philips (@bluebloodSherry), Deputy Editor

This was one of the shocking news to discover today. I like RDM, quiet tragic afta all he won for us. This coach was so cool. I guess it was a harsh decision.

OK enough of the mourning and let's move on. RDM should have figured Torres earlier so he has to take the fall. About Abramovich, he was the same guy who allowed a care taker be in charge of his team and no one thought he was mad. Its obvious that RDM might never finish what he was building within two years and he did not convince it was worthwhile anyway. The project is the beautiful tiki taka football and what a previledge to have the man who invented it on board. We won't be trying to be like Barca if we have the original on board.

The advavtage of sacking coaches is to show how ambitious a club is hence, any coach that wants to take over'll av realised the expectation. D disadvantage is players'll not give the coaches the due respect bcus they know they have d power to sack him.

YA he won us a champion's league trophy but that was just a combination of good luck and worldclass players.I believe RDM is tactically poor and when the players' class started to drop (Drog gone,Terry injured,Lampsi injured,Torres form getting worse) we started loosing like we were supposed to.We have a world class team which can rival even Barcelona and real at their best.So then if we end up loosing to premier league teams ,only our coach is to be blamed.I believe RDM sacking was a good decision for the club ,but i'm great full to the guy and he'll always remain in my heart as a Chelsea legend.

Never really saw Benitez coming. Guess RDM is not the only one who would not stay true to our philosophy. Its all about Torres now, sad.

  23. RA wanted PEP at first place but to admit 'thank you” he gave the job to RDM. RA was looking for this opportunity and that's it.

The problem was giving RDM a two year contract instead of one. It would have become more difficult to dismiss RDM next year when Pep becomes available if he is doing very well and winning the fans. With the recent rumours of Pep flying around, its no secret that he wanted Chelsea to be in a strong position for the competition. 4rm Xtian.

@Amarachi, I agree with you. Obviously, we dont have strikers–not even any dependable one!!! Chelsea's treatment of coaches and players is also worrisome. Drogba, wanted two years contract extension but was denied–our own indomitable LEGEND that brought us European glory!!!! What a shame!!! I have not recovered from the bad effect of the exit of Drogba. Each time I see strikers messing up in front of goals during a match, I bite my finger for lack of striker of his pedigree. I have come to love CFC for real. It's my club; it's our own… but. why is CFC synonymous with sack?!?!? it hurts
