In part 1 I covered the goalkeeper and defenders, in this part I will do the midfielders and attackers. Please don’t forget these are my views on the team.
The Pivot
The winner
As much as I do not like him as a player as he is too one dimensional for me, Mikel is the winner. We saw when he went to AFCON that we did miss him as he does give that cover that is needed desperately with our formation. He is good in the air and with interceptions he doesn’t pass forward but more backwards and to the side which frustrates me as we could get an attacking move going but we don’t as he would rather pass to the side of him or backwards.
The Loser
I feel the loser is Oriol Romeu, this is mainly because of his injury which ruled him out for 5/6months. He was supposed to fill in for Mikel when he went to AFCON and stake a claim for a starting spot but he couldn’t as he was injured. I do believe if he wasnt he would of been quite high up the pecking order in the team by the time Mikel came back. He is a fighter and he really is the perfect player for us in the Pivot.
Left Winger
The Winner
Undoubtly is Eden Hazard, he has owned that Left winger position all season and when fit he played there and dominated it. He has been brillant in his first season but I do believe he can become even better in years to come.
The Loser
Marko Marin has been an unlucky man this season with his injury he had a great pre-season but then got injured and lost his form. He started to come back but then Benitez came in and brought Benayoun back and as soon as that happened I knew Marin would barely get any game time because of this.
Right Winger
The Winner
I believe Oscar is the winner in this position he has scored some outstanding goals for us this season and has played well in a unfamiliar position. He did have a rough patch and everyone seemed to instantly jump on his back saying he’s awful, it was just a rough patch and he came back into some great form. An honourable mention for Moses as well.
The Loser
Lucas Piazon for me is the loser. I know he can play anywhere in the trio but I’m putting him in the right wing position just so I can fit him in. He was loaned out in January to Malaga and played a bit for them but I do think he would of played more if he had stayed, however Benitez bought Benayoun back so neither Marin or Piazon where going to get a a lot of match time. I think he should stay next season and play in the first team, he is described as one of these wonderkids and when you watch him play you can see why.
The Number 10 role
The Winner
Undoubtly, undisputedly it is the Spainish Magician Juan Mata. He has been in phenominal form this season with 20 goals and 37 assist’s, that’s 57goals he has been involved in by himself. If you think about it at the beginning of the season all the opposition supporters where saying Mata would do a Silva and take a nose dive in form, my word he has gone the opposite way and sky rocketed in form. I do believe this has come from a lot of self-confidence he gained from being picked in the Spainish squads for the Euro’s and the Olympics and scoring in the final of the Euro’s.
The Loser
I believe the loser is Kevin De Bruyne. Eventhough he did extremely well on loan at Werder Bremen he didn’t I believe get the chance he deserved to get in the first team. I think he would of been able to deputise well for Mata and possibly even challenge any of the trio for the starting spot’s.
Striker
The Winner
I think it is Fernando Torres the winner in this position. This is easily his best season in a Blue shirt he has scored 22goals and has a hatful of assist’s as well. He has been hot and cold this season but in fairness he has done well for a player in his position this season. Most people say he hasn’t done well but he has scored more goals in all competitions than quite a few top quality strikers in the Premier League: Aguero, Rooney, Tevez just to name a few.
The Loser
I think it is Sturridge we sold him in the January Transfer window and I don’t think we should of, I believe he should of been kept on and actually played down the middle in the Striker position. Look at him at Liverpool he scored a few goals in the PL with Countinho, Henderson, Suarez, Gerrard and others suppling him. Now think if we put him infront of our creative group of players he could of possibly scored a lot of goals given the chance, He did frustrate me as he never liked to pass the ball when he needed to, he’s getting better at it but that’s about it.
Who do you think are the winners and losers of these positions?

I think David Luiz is the winner of the pivot. Since being moved there, he has made it his own…
How can you call players that weren’t even in the team losers ( Sturridge and Kevin De Bruyne).
Hw cn u pick Piazon on the right? When he didn’t even play there for us.
Moses was obviously the loser on the RW cos he didn’t impart the game as much as Oscar did.
very first Sentence on the Piazon sentence. Then the second sentence right at the beginning of the article
Interesting article, keep it up!
