Thomas Tuchel is “Sweating” over the potential exit of Cesar Azpilicueta, reports Matt Law.
Sources claim that club captain known to Chelsea fans more commonly as “Dave” was preparing to say goodbye this summer, but the change of ownership and the losses of key defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger has complicated matters.
Tuchel would like his club captain to stay and not join Barcelona who have already taken Christensen off Chelsea. However, Barcelona are NOT prepared to pay Chelsea any fee for Azpilicueta. Barcelona are also planning a move for Marcos Alonso after he expressed his desire to move back to Spain in a recent interview with Tv station Onda Cero.
Tuchel would most likely keep Azpilicueta as a rotational option and you can understand why he wants to keep him, Chelsea losing 3, potentially 4 defenders in one summer would leave a lot of work to do in a market where Chelsea also need to address the attack and midfield.
Pete Cech, Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor ( who is also understood to play a role in transfers ) stated in a interview that it will be a busy summer for Chelsea.
“ Yeah, it will be ( a busy summer ) but of course we plan, we prepare and we try to be as strong as we can next season “
