For long Chelsea have found Youth contributions (other than Attacking Midfield ) elusive. The examples include Sturridge transfer to Liverpool, re-loaning out Lukaku, deciding to keep De Bruyne at Werder Bremen despite his pre-season exploits & etc. The announcement of Marco Van Ginkel may have raised eyebrows but all confided in Mourinho’s consideration. His gaffer praised to the media that Van Ginkel would be EPL own Gerrard or Lampard type player for his all rounded midfield abilities. Mourinho, a strict regulator of making attacking players defend saw promises in the young Dutch. He exclaimed upon Ginkel’s arrival ‘He covers a fantastic area of the field defensively and after that he has this instinct where he wants to go into finishing areas, he wants to score goals. He’s very good in the air.’
Now analyzing Ginkel scenario and clubs faith in him it is apparent that the Club never wanted to loan him out. CDM is a highly sensitive department where senior players must be played in. Yet Lampard and Ramires have limitations with age for the Chelsea legend and passing abilities of the Brazilian. Hence an inexperienced Van Ginkel can contribute both Energy and Accuracy. At Vitesse he was credited for scoring at respectable rate of 18 in 93 matches including Dutch powerhouses such as Ajax . He debuted at seventeen and in the following 2010-11 season he evolved into a key player. Now in the realms of Chelsea CDM Van Ginkel offers versatility which are stated as follows:
1 Lethal Shots, 2 Ability to play in different midfield positions in both Attacking and Offensive Midfield departments, 3 Long range passes 4 Careful and Cautious Style, 5 Abilitt to use both feet with equal Adeptness & 6 Mature Style at a very young level.
Now Van Ginkel was injured and bared from action for nearly seven months. His presence was not felt after a bright Hull City cameo and unlucky match against Basel that saw him start. Luiz and Matic are fundamental to CDM with Mikel set to depart and Lampard and Ramires offering options. Ramires is a proven ball winner but in Chelsea s style lately he found life difficult. He does have pace to run and send the ball to attacking players and impose powerful pressure on opponents as well. The stark truths are his atrocious long ball clearance, turning back to retrieve the ball when behind an opponent, aerial interceptions, passing without committing fouls marginally etc. Van Ginkel have not faced Barca, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Juventus etc like Ramires and did not play UCL too. Yet the array of skills he possesses would offer more. Under Jose Ramires effectively triggered Counter Attacks which were brilliant. Van Ginkel ventures into opposition D Box after their attacks have been dealt with by his team. Then as on the counter he blisteringly advances with attacking moves. This may merit him a part on Counter Attacking strategies too. Lampard was a feared Box to Box Midfielder at his acme who has been moulded into CDM player after Essiens fall in form, Ballack and Deco exits, AVB preferring youth etc. However Lampard with stability operated in CDM given experiences and attacking traits. It is essential to inject Fresh and Dynamic Blood into CDM given any of Luiz or Matic’s absence due to injury, suspension, fatigue, need for rest etc. Mikel played pure Left sided CDM before Matic superceeded him and anyone between the Luiz, Ramires and Lampard trio play the Right CDM
However this article does not negate Ramires or point out inabilities that may arise from the age of the legend Lampard. It stresses on the potential rise of Van Ginkel which we could not see as he was plagued with a serious injury. The intention of this article is to sensitize fans on a present resource who does not posses the reputations of Salah, Schurrle etc. So we should notvexpect any mega CDM signing to provide balance in cases of Luiz and Matic unavalibility.

We are yet to see all these atributes of Van Ginkel in blue unform.I hope you are not sponsored agent.I wonder why you sing praise song for a man who by way of injury has done little or nothing in blue jersey.
LOL no I’m just saying bro that’s my opinion 🙂
Because CDM never had a complete player barring Matic and Luiz. Ramires is good but not as impactable as the ones stated above. However Van Ginkel unlike the Brazilian offers multiple traits. Time will tell the values of nurturing Ginkel
I went to the Basel game at Stamford Bridge early on in this season and tbh, my Grandad, Uncle and I were ringing eachother up the next day because all the newspapers gave Lampard MOTM and MVG like a 6! We couldn’t belive it because he was by far our best player that night and the performance fell apart when he was substituted. This performance alone proves he is ready for a shot at the bid time. After Matic, there was no reason to invest in CDM anyway, as we have Rami (versatile, able back-up), Mikel (likely to be sold, but dependable nonetheless), Lamps (again, likely to leave, but for now does a job), McEachran (sent on loan again, but I saw him play under Ancelotti and he looks a hell of a talent. Needs to be loaned to a BPL club for experience), Chalobah (highly promising young CDM, though apparently Mou fancies him as a CB. Again, should be loaned to a BPL club for 1 year, then put into our 1st team squad) and players like Ake (natural position is a CB, but showed in Europa League last year he is a competent CDM) and Oscar (under Benitez, the staff deduced his eventual position would be CDM in a Pirlo-esque role, though this remains to be seen) can also play here, so no we should focus on other areas, like the striker department, and our ageing defence, in the coming summer window…
I own u 1
@mason cole,nice one.
Well, Van Ginkel is a fine player whose abilities makes him unique! Rami have performed poor this season in the CDM role! I think he shld be moved to the wings! But with the wings too, we have on-loan players who are good, mention the likes of christian atsu, marine etc! Not 4getting victor moses tooo! Should Rami be sold?????
no he’s a keyplayer for ous
Cfc don’t need to buy a cdm this summer. MVG is very good. I’m sure of it. If he partners Matic, it will be bliss. And I’m happy mou iss not innterestted in shaw. Our lb for neext season wld be azpi and van aahnholt. Van aahnholt has been promised a regular spot next season and he wld soon sign a new deal. That boy is better than Shaw. Shaw, stones and flanagan are not that good. It is the media that hypes them as young english talent.
MVG is good young players. Our next season CDM is build by Rami-Matic or Rami-MVG. We hv to buy strong fit to EPL skillful passing technician AM to improve z squad otherwise buying striker only not changed z team.
MVG-Matic wld be really great if they click…
Striker is absolutely necessary.. Cavani or Costa.
And one gud LB…. Added advantage
